Dreaming of frogs, Symbolism of frogs, Money frogs

Dreaming of frogs:
Last night I spied a fabulous frog sat by the garden door. The one without paws and whiskers said frogs are a symbol of good luck. Folklore tells that dreaming of a frog means good fortune, happiness and great friendships. Well, I know I wasn't dreaming because when I tapped it with my paw, froggy gave a loud squeal.

Frog symbolism:
The Irish consider the frog to be a close relative to the leprechaun who is capable of playing tricks at the most unexpected times. In the Celtic tradition, each stream and spring had its own spirit, and frogs were considered the messengers of these water spirits. The Romans used the frog as a mascot who is said to bring good luck to the home. In Egyptian mythology, the Egyptian goddess Heket was depicted as a frog (a symbol of life and fertility) or a frog-headed woman.

Money frogs:
In the ancient Chinese art of feng shui the three-legged money frog symbol is usually depicted as having coins in its mouth to signify bringing money into the home. The way the frog is placed is very important, position the frog near the front door facing inwards, never allow the frog to be placed facing the door as this symbolises money going out of the house. Frog symbols are best placed in either the living or dining areas, and always facing inwards.

The Chinese believe that if there is a whole family of frogs living in your garden you will be protected from any bad luck. Phew! Thank goodness we guided our frog to a safe place in the garden. Happiness can sometimes be frog shaped too!
